SCOTRUN, Pa. — A 27-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after police discovered her husband and 3-year-old son dead inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge in Monroe County on Monday, October 12.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Pocono Township Police, Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, Bradford County, is accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son, identified in court documents by the initials T.H.

Police were dispatched to room 2030 at Great Wolf Lodge around 3:13 p.m. Monday after Harrison contacted emergency dispatchers and reported that she was suicidal and needed help dying.

When officers arrived, they encountered Harrison at the doorway with bleeding cuts to her left wrist and superficial puncture wounds to her neck. According to investigators, Harrison told officers that she wanted to be with her husband and son.

Upon entering the room, officers discovered Charles Harrison deceased on a mattress on the floor, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest. Their 3-year-old son was found deceased on a separate mattress, apparently suffering from a single stab wound to the chest.

Investigators recovered a large butcher knife from the bathroom floor and a smaller knife from the bathroom sink. Both knives had teal-green handles, which lodge employees reportedly confirmed were not part of the resort’s kitchen equipment.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the family checked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and subsequently extended their reservation through October 13.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage showing the family entering their room together around 6:53 p.m. on October 11. Later that evening, Harrison was seen leaving the room briefly to use a microwave in a vending area. Harrison and her husband were subsequently observed visiting the resort’s arcade before returning to their room around 11:22 p.m.

Police reported that no additional activity at the room’s doorway was captured on surveillance footage after that time.

During a review of Harrison’s 911 call, investigators reported that she told dispatchers, “my husband and son are already gone” and “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”

According to the complaint, Harrison did not request medical assistance for either victim during the call.

While being transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Stroudsburg for treatment of her injuries, Harrison allegedly made several statements expressing frustration that her apparent suicide attempt had been unsuccessful.

“I fucked up, I fucked up. I just needed energy and strength,” Harrison reportedly told emergency medical personnel.

She also allegedly stated, “I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child.”

Detectives later attempted to interview Harrison at the hospital after advising her of her Miranda rights. According to court documents, she declined to speak with investigators.

Police subsequently obtained search warrants for the hotel room, the family’s vehicle and Harrison’s person. Investigators reported observing no defensive wounds or bruising on Harrison beyond the injuries to her wrist and neck.

Detective Sergeant Earl Ackerman and Detective Michael Scicutella of the Pocono Township Police Department are listed as investigators in the criminal complaint.

Harrison was charged with two counts of criminal homicide under Pennsylvania law. The charges were filed October 13 before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge.

The allegations remain pending in court, and Harrison is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
