Wayne County Man Charged With Attempted Homicide After Reported Shooting
PLEASANT MOUNT TOWNSHIP — A 56-year-old Wayne County man is facing attempted homicide charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he fired multiple shots at a woman Saturday morning before fleeing the scene.
According to state police, troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:06 a.m. on June 6 to a residence on Daw Road in Pleasant Mount Township for a reported shooting.
Police said the victim, a 43-year-old woman, fled to a neighboring residence and called 911 after shots were allegedly fired at her by her paramour, identified as Mark Renninger, 56. Investigators said the woman was not struck by gunfire.
Troopers from the Honesdale, Dunmore, Gibson and Blooming Grove stations responded and established a perimeter around the residence while securing the victim.
Authorities determined Renninger had fled the area. While the search was underway, employees at the Auto Zone in Texas Township reported a suspicious man inside the business. Troopers responding to that location located a man and vehicle matching Renninger’s description.
Renninger was taken into custody without incident and his vehicle was secured, police said.
A Pennsylvania State Police Troop R Partial Major Case Team was activated to assist with the investigation.
Renninger has been charged with attempted homicide and related offenses. He was lodged at the Wayne County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.
Trooper Michael Collins of the Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the incident.
