One Dead After Early Morning House Fire in Honesdale

HONESDALE: One person died following an early morning structure fire Tuesday in Honesdale Borough, according to the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
The fire at 211 7th Street was initially reported at approximately 2:10 a.m., officials said.
Wayne County Coroner Dr. Edward R. Howell and Chief Deputy Coroner Mark M. James were dispatched to the scene at 3:09 a.m. to conduct a death investigation.
Authorities said the victim was located inside the single-family home near a second-floor window. He was identified as 23-year-old Sheldon B. Endriss of Honesdale.
Coroner Howell pronounced Endriss dead at the scene at 3:58 a.m.
Officials said two other adults who were reportedly inside the home at the time of the fire were able to escape through a second-floor window.
The cause and manner of death remain pending investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
The investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
